To Our Friends and Gamers,

I’d just like to take a minute and quote from Mark Twain, who once said, — "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

We’ve heard several people say or write, "Lost Battalion Games must be out of business. I haven’t seen anything in a long time."

Not true. We have been re-tooling and re-trenching and re-loading. We are about to reappear on the scene, stronger than ever.

A large part of our apparent "demise" concerns a lack of advance on our web site. We were working on an upgrade and installed a "latest and greatest" version of a "store" and then realized that, even though it was being sold as "finished," it was not really at a true Beta stage. I won’t bore you with the XXX# of "patches" this thing required, but we are over and done with it and you can see the new site here as it grows and develops.

But beyond web site difficulties, we have also been engaged in an ambitious plan to be completely self-sufficient when it comes to game production. You’ve heard hundreds of cases of game companies having problems with printers, die cutters, or all-of-the-above-and-more with getting products made in China or elsewhere. We’ll have none of that any more. Lost Battalion Games is now fully capable of making virtually everything we put into the box, including the box. (We’ll still get dice and wooden bits from the outside—but that qualifier helps reinforce how much we’ll actually be self-sufficient) Even the miniatures used in our new game are made right here at LBG. While we are proud to be able to say "Made in the U.S.A" on our games, we are also proud to know that this will help us assure a level of quality we will be glad to put before you-the-gamer.

We have exciting things coming down the chute. "Sergeants Miniatures Game," or SMG, offers a truly unique, card-driven miniatures system that is simple to get into and has been deeply absorbing for our playtesters. Unlike other miniatures systems, it offers everything you need in a box, including painted figures. We debuted this game at Historicon. After that, we have more truly innovative designs rolling out... a mythology game involving cards and much interaction between players and characters and the pantheon of ancient gods. Other future games will also offer players high-level decision making options with easy play and set up. We’ll be repackaging many of our classic games in a way that makes them more affordable. And yes, we will re-issue Battlelines and release the long-awaited Kursk version.

We are sorry this has taken so long, but we’ve emerged from the cocoon of adversity stronger and more capable. We’re looking forward to bringing you great games, deep experiences in different media, and fun. We’re looking forward to having fun while we do it too!

Next up, Sergeants Miniatures Game, where every scenario has a story, and, just like people, every soldier is a unique character. That’s not just marketing hyperbole. Take a closer look at SMG. It’s a game made to be simple, with a tremendous amount of technology built into the design in a seamless way.

We’re looking forward to watching folks react and enjoy it at Historicon!

Thanks for your patience, and we look forward to rewarding your interest.
